The Stovell Building History

The Stovell family have been builders in and around Surrey since the 19th century. Based from the village of Headley, Surrey, there have been 5 generations of carpenters and builders as illustrated in the family tree below. The picture  was taken in the 1920s and shows the Stovell family house with a board advertising 'W.Stovell & Sons - House Decorators and Undertakers'. Traditionally, builders also worked as undertakers in small villages due to their carpentry and digging skills to dig the holes and make the coffins. Unfortunately, we no longer offer this service!
